Dryden took a deep sigh, slouching at the main table in the Great Hall. Tiny beads of sweat lined his forehead, as he looked around the room as the students were led to their respective tables.
He had faced an army of aurors without a single doubt his mind; he had faced an army of Drow, too and survived. But as Dryden looked out onto the faces of all his new students, he was almost scared witless. Teenagers were a strange species, one which must be treated with caution. He was a teenager once himself, so long ago... How hard could addressing a crowd of them be?
As the last table took their seats, Dryden rose from his and looked around the dark room, which had been lit with mere candle light. Deep purples, greens and tones of black decorated the room, mostly in velvet or small amounts of satin. The school had maintained its dark look, despite how much the windows were cleaned, or the cobwebs brushed down... they seem to be instantly replaced with twice the amount that was there to begin with.
Dryden's red eyes glinted in a sort of defiance to how the once-abandoned school had shaped up to be, with very little maintenance done since he bought it. The school was pretty much the same as how he had experienced it, almost twenty years ago.
"Welcome to your first year at Durmstrang," Dryden began. His english voice once had a strong Bulgarian feel to it, but that had disappeared over the years. It was now his Bulgarian that seemed to have a strong English drawl.
Dryden paused, there was no reaction. "Well, what can I say? There are no forbidden areas here... oh, wait... yes there are." He stumbled, glancing directly at a student every once in a while "Third floor classrooms are off-limits, for now at least. During the Winter months, outdoors will become forbidden, for safety reasons, so enjoy the next three months while you can. Classes begin in three days, allowing you to become accustomed to your new surroundings. Third years and above are allowed to visit the local village, but first and second years will have their own gaming and recreation room to escape to; same with seventh years."
Dryden glanced down at the paperwork in front of him. He had obviously written some points to remember to mention "Uh, Professors will be arriving over the next few days. So... Everyone mingle and have a good time on our first night, try not to eat too much or start any fights."
He looked up from the paperwork, expectantly.
