Dryden was born into a belief that he had come to lead the Drow into a resistance against the wizarding world that would put them into power. This all changed when he was sent to Frostbite, in Canada.
Raised a very important drow child, Dryden was unlike most other males of his kind; his life was spared after the age of twelve. Unusual white tribal markings which clashed against his skin had formed, making him the part of a very old line of prophesies.
After his first few years attending Durmstrang in his home country of Bulgaria, Dryden made a dramatic transition to Canadian life when his mother and father shipped him off to an overseas school, which would approxiately match the climate of his first school.
His reason for transition, is that his family and community were very very strong Voldemort supporters. As Voldemort lay dormant, so did the Drow... but as news of his awakening spread, Death eaters had begun to riot in their part of eastern Europe. The ministry of magic sent aurors and many other anti-dark art specialists to help stop the outburst.
With Dryden's importance in society and his fairly average understanding of the English language, Dryden was sent to Frostbite School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
There, his Drow antics were unwelcomed. He made friends, but at the cost of his training and reputation. He also made enemies too, challenging a number of teachers and students alike. Another Drow by the name of Teyla, who knew nothing of Drow ways came to the school. Dryden attempted to teach her, but her strong view on justice and the importance to do good in the world would not let her believe his stories and truth in his ways. Eventually he revealed that the uprising was about to occur... and that's when Teyla and Dryden's friendship ended.
As the years continued, Dryden fell in love with a hybrid by the name of Sara Corvin. They fought and there were constant misunderstandings but it always brought them closer. Sara, caught in between Dryden and another boy by the name of Atreyu, who was quite younger in comparison but still had an important part in the story.
What Sara didn't know was that a Drow uprising had begun to occur. The final year of school came and Dryden was pulled out of Frostbite and sent to aid his people. As the first stage of war had begun, Dryden fought along side of what he thought was right.
But, as the fifth year of the war came and Dryden began to feel that there was a pointless atmosphere to the war, something that they weren't telling him. Most of all, he missed his friends at Frostbite... particularly Sara.
Dryden escaped and made his way back to Canada. At that time, his name had been associated with cowards because he had deserted his people.
Dryden became involved, with much persuasion from Teyla and Sara, to join up a resistance in the name of uniting all people equally. It changed his outlook dramatically and as the war came to a close, his people were defeated. His parents dead, Dryden inherited a large property and all of their fortune. Motivated by his new cause, Dryden bought the school in the hope that he could teach the next generation and bring education back to that part of the world.
