Ivan raised his hand to answer the teacher's question. "An animagi is a person who can transform into a creature that personifies their personality. Thay have no control ultimately at what that shape can be. A transfiguration is when one purposely transforms themself into whatever it is they want to be, whether it personifies them or not." When the dog leapet a Kiya however he ahd the resist the urge to growl at the animal for acting that way towards her.

Kiya moved back as River seemingly leapt onto his desk, "Nice River." She said with a weak smile.

"Close. You are thinking of a Metamorphmagus. Transiguration is an art, not an ability, and is quite useful at times."
Noticing that River was scaring Kiya, she whistled for him and the dog relucantly came back to the Professor's desk.
"Don't mind River. He means no harm."
She gave the dog a look, telling him not to disrupt the students and River lay down, resting his head in his paws ((much like the pic in my signature)).
"Now, where was I? Oh, yeah. Transfiguration is generally cast on another object, animate or inanimate. For example, changing a needle to a pin, or changing duck to a chicken. Do you see the difference?"

Ivan nodded, still not hearing something he hadn't heard before.

Glancing around the room, she noticed Ivan was the odd one out, since River didn't count.
"Alright, for homework, I want you all to investigate your animals and try to pinpoint why you got that particular animal."
She thought for a moment, then added a little.
"Oh, and 5 points to Ivan, 10 points to Kiya - I love your picture! It really shows your animal. Now, you can all keep your figurines. If you ever want your figurine to transform again, just tap it twice with your wand."
The class seemed a bit short to her, but what was she to do? There was only so much that could be taught in a pilot class.
"You can all just talk or something until your next class. But no one leave the room!"
Then she turned to River and tapped her desk, signalling he could get up.

"Why me!" Ivan grumbled as the professor left the class with her dog. "Why did I get the domestic animal!" Exactly why he had gotten an Irish setter was beyond his figuring. He knew he was loyal and lived in a cold climate, but that would be the grounds for a husky, not an Irish Setter.

"theres nothing wrong with being a domestic animal." Kiya said simply.
"I wouldnt mind if I was a simple cat, actually thats what I thought I was going to be." Kiya said with a shrug. "I never thought I was tiger material."

Ivan looked to Kiya and showed her the dog he was supposed to be. "Even if that is true, I am a russian and live in cold climates. if a were to be a domestic dog you would have figured a husky instead of an Irish Setter."

"Tigers are usually found in cold areas," She said simply, "So your animal is opposite and so is mine." She said with a shrug.
"Beside, you make such a cute Irish Settler." She said with a cheeky grin.

Ivan huffed and looked away. If he were a dog, he would have his tail sticking up in a sign of defiance.
